OK, I know we've been here before - many times - but...
Can someone recommend a method for restricting the time or number of
launches for a demo version of an application. This does not have to be
bullet-proof or unassailable by a real hacker. It just has to more
trouble than what it's worth for the average user.
The effort required to break-in should be just more than the average
(basically honest) person is willing to do.
I was thinking of checking the date against the number of launches
Saved as application's resources and a hidden file in the prefs folder
and updated after each launch.
Once the demo has timed out:
the application deletes critical resources
writes a hidden prefs file that when read by a copy of the demo prevents
it from launching
Any other ideas?
Any code?
Collaborations?
