(I am intentionally avoiding OS X.) go the whole hog and update to 9.2.1 unless you have a pressing reason [incompatible software or extensions] not to do so. as a fellow ibook user i can assure that battery management has improve radically throughout System 9 updates. I am currently getting 4 1/2 hours on my iceBook and if i was more restrictive and conservative in my settings i gues i could get 5 hours. for me this is an amazing feature and worth the upgrade. as usual, ymmv, :-j
