I did a media check with Norton on all partitions, no problems found.

It may be that the files I have been trying to open got written to the bad
area somehow? Not real sure.

I have another drive that I guess is going out, because whenever I try to
do anything with it using DiskWarrior or Norton it goes into a cyclic buzz
after a bit into the directory scan. Though the drive works fine otherwise.
TechTool Pro says it is fine as far as hardware tests. All of them.

Argh. I think I will scan some more and see if these same 3 opcodes are
found in some file or extension or elsewhere.

Backing up these giant harddrives nowadays is very problematic. They be so
huuuge.

Thanks for all your suggestions, list.

Wave, Staz I will see about your scan code. Thanks. Might have to write
Hex-Scan Beastie.
