I apologize if this is off topic but there may be a product to made here if it isn't already available. Here's the scenario: Two computers at different locations (long distance). Each has access to the internet. Each has Apple Remote Access and Timbukut Pro and Retrospect. The goal is to back up files, daily, to the other computer using internet access because it is a long distance call. My initial thought is: 1. Computer One dials the internet. 2. Using Timbuktu or any other utility I may not be aware of obtain it's own dynamic IP address. 3. Computer One sends email to Computer Two with it's IP address, possibly using Eudora which I understand is very scriptable. 4. Computer Two dials the internet and retrieves email with IP address recieved from Computer One. 5. Using IP address, (a program) connects with Computer One and mounts the volume to store backup files. I have looked at Apple Remote Access 3.0 and I don't think this will do it. 6. Retrospect performs backup to remote volume. An easier solution would be to have a static IP address but this is not an option with most providers at a reasonable fee. Any thoughts or scripting suggestions by anyone on this idea? Or better yet a better idea.
