FOOD for thought--

I am one of the lurkers (long-time) and a former instructor in 360 assembler
for CICS programmers.  This is a very interesting dissertation and something
to study.  I hadn't written many FNs that returned multiple items.  This
provides me, at least, with some things to look at so that my FNs are more
portable and powerful.
