The RTF-reading code was part of an in-house utility called "Conan" (CONverter/ANalyzer) that allowed our editing staff to generate test questions using MS Word, including font style variations, embedded graphics, etc. They would save the questions as RTF, then Conan would interpret the RTF and generate output files in a format readable by our StudyWare test-prep and course-review software. Conan was, of course, written in FB. The StudyWare software itself (Mac version) consists of several executables, of which one was written in QuickBasic (before I discovered FB!) and the others in FB. I was busily trying to rip out the last remnants of QB at about the time Cliffs Notes Inc decided they could no longer afford to keep a Software Development Group. They still sell the software, but it almost certainly will never be updated. Despite my attempts to prop up the QB module, it seems to run less stably with each new release of the MacOS. Eventually, I suppose, it just won't run at all, and they'll have to retire that product line. - Rick
